Jim has specialized as an advisor to wealthy individuals, families, and business owners in Sacramento and the Bay Area for over 35 years. He is known for his ability to build and scale businesses while maintaining enduring client relationships.
In 2026, Jim transitioned to the role of Chairman of Bluespring Wealth Management, where he focuses on key strategic initiatives, executive mentorship, team development, and fostering important relationships across the organization.
Jim led the successful sale of Capital Planning Advisors to Bluespring Wealth Partners in November 2021. Following the transaction, he continued to lead the firm as Managing Director and CEO, operating under the Capital Planning Advisors name while integrating into the broader Bluespring platform.
From 2014 through the sale in 2021, Jim served as CEO of Capital Planning Advisors, where he guided the firm’s strategic direction, growth, and client service model. Under his leadership, the firm expanded its capabilities, strengthened its relationships with high-net-worth clients, and positioned itself for long-term success, culminating in its strategic partnership with Bluespring.
Prior to Capital Planning Advisors, Jim served as Director of Private Banking and Senior Vice President at Mechanics Bank for 13 years. There, he designed, launched, and managed the Private Banking group, leveraging his strengths in strategic planning, collaboration, and team building to grow the business and deepen client relationships.
Jim is also the founder and former owner of Wilson Management, which he led for 17 years. Through the firm, he provided business management services to high-net-worth individuals and professional athletes, focusing on financial planning, investment management, and advising on real estate and private equity opportunities. He also played a key role in estate and tax planning and served as a liaison between athletes and the broader business community.
Earlier in his career, Jim spent over a decade as Vice President of Private Banking at Bank of America in Walnut Creek and Oakland.
Over the past 35 years, Jim has raised capital and consulted on numerous real estate and alternative investment opportunities. He has also been actively involved in both advisory and charitable boards.
Jim graduated from Saint Mary’s College in 1990 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration.
Driven by a “work hard, play hard” philosophy, Jim enjoys spending time with his wife, children, and friends. An avid sports fan, he enjoys golf, scuba diving, and travel.
